Strength in Limited Numbers

Spengler writes:
Reality presented itself to the White House in the course of the current give-and-take over Israel and Palestine in the person of Defense Secretary Robert Gates, perhaps the last functioning realist in the Obama administration. The Pentagon, as I noted two weeks ago, views with realistic horror the possibility that Israel might exchange military technology with Russia and India. An immediate concern is the Russian-Indian joint venture to produce a fifth-generation fighter, but drone, anti-missile, and other technology are also a concern. That, there is reason to believe, explains why the US administration abruptly dropped its demand for a complete Israeli freeze on settlement construction and accepted the Israeli offer of a freeze on acquiring new land, once 3,000 homes at present under construction are complete.

That, contrary to Mearsheimer and Walt, is realism: in a world of weapons of mass destruction, very large numbers of poorly educated people make no contribution to military power. Even in the age of edged weapons, Persia's advantage in numbers at Gaugamela posed little threat to Alexander the Great. Despite its declining population, Russia is determined to exercise military power on a world scale through its edge in key military technologies.

Israel's contribution might be decisive in a number of fields, for example avionics and especially drone technology. Among the million Russians who emigrated to Israel during the breakdown of the Soviet Empire are more than 10,000 scientists, including some who designed Russia's best weapons systems. Moscow's impulse to reunite the old team is understandable. Throw Israel into the briar patch, and America might not like the result.

Quantity isn't everything, or even the main thing. Europe conquered the world, not China. Jews influenced the modern world, not Muslims. Talk of "third world hordes" misses the point that hordes haven't been able to conquer anything since the days of Tartary. Ten Israeli rocket scientists are worth a thousand illiterate Arab slumdwellers when it comes to geopolitical significance. China has always had more people than every other country, but that didn't stop them from being exploited until significant numbers of those people got educated and productive.

The more educated and productive people get, the less kids they have. Yet those few kids they do have will make more money and have more influence than the two dozen kids of the woman in the burqa. And the kids of the tent-lady who do advance in life will be more likely to cast off the burqa and have less kids in turn. Jewish overrepresentation in prominent fields is no mystery when the Jewish emphasis/obsession with education and achievement is taken into consideration. Edward Limonov is on point here:
Jewish talents, their “Golden Brains.” There is probably no more number of talented people among the Jews, than among “goyims,” but Jews taught their offsprings how to develop their talents. Jews highly prize education. “The knowledge is might!” is their national slogan. Jewish family force its children to learn.

Jewish mothers are best in world. My Russian mother, when first met my beautiful lover (later my wife) Elena, have said to me: “She is too good for you!” On a contrary, no woman is tood enough for Jewish mother’s son. My mother scornfully laughed at my young man’s poetry. Mother of my school friend Jew Yuri Kopissarov always blamed the world for his misfortunes. Her “Yurotchka” for her was a spotless. “The Knowledge is might!” have proclaimed hudnreds times per day the Jewish mothers to their offsprings. 97% of Russian Jews emigrated to United States have university diplomas.

Pragmatically speaking, an alliance with Israel (and Jews in general) is thus worth more than mere numbers would indicate. If I were a Russian nationalist, I'd be eager to exploit the Russian Israeli diaspora as grounds for closer ties. Putin, probably the smartest world leader on the planet right now, is no doubt quietly doing so. One of the Soviet Union's biggest mistakes was to mismanage its relations with Jews to the point that a once prole-sympathetic population turned bitterly anti-communist. Conspiracy theorists assume Jews are exploiting everyone who supports any of their interests: do they ever stop to consider that the reverse might (also) be true? And that the term for mutual exploitation is alliance?

Today we speak of "Judeo-Christian" civilization, but if the Islamic world had allied with the state of Israel, we might speak of a Judeo-Islamic civilization. Israel could have been the Trotsky to the Arab world's Red Army. The Middle East, united in an Abrahamic League, could have been a world superpower, Al-Andalus on steroids. Instead, Muslims let their pride and stereotypes of dhimmi weakness overrule their own self-interest. Limonov's Jew friend Yuri Kopissarov is probably a media magnate by now. He and his ilk would be best to stay in touch.
