Abrahamic Domination Theory

Nativists who claim Jews are out to conquer the world face two difficult questions: the question of theo-political motivation and the question of logistical capability. Theologically, Judaism tends toward nationalism, not imperialism; isolationism, not expansionism. If communism was to be seen as a front for Jewish world domination, the fact that Judeo-communists repudiated Judaism had to be explained away: thus the origin of the modern conspiracy theory. Anti-Semites had to forge the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to provide an imperialist theology for their enemy, because it could not be found in the enemy's own writings. As Raymond Ibrahim writes in Conflating History with Theology:
Yahweh clearly ordered the Hebrews to annihilate the Canaanites and surrounding peoples. Such violence is therefore an expression of God's will, for good or ill. Regardless, all the historic violence committed by the Hebrews and recorded in the Old Testament is just that—history. It happened; God commanded it. But it revolved around a specific time and place and was directed against a specific people. At no time did such violence go on to become standardized or codified into Jewish law (i.e., the Halakha).

This is in contrast to the Koran:
Though similar to the violence of the Old Testament—commanded by God and manifested in history—certain aspects of Islamic violence have become standardized in Islamic law (i.e., Sharia) and apply at all times. Thus while the violence found in the Koran is in fact historical, its ultimate significance is theological, or, more specifically, doctrinal. Consider the following Koranic verses, better known as the "sword-verses":

Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the pagans wherever you find them—take them [captive], besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due [i.e. submit to Islam], then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful (K 9:5).

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger [i.e. do not adhere to Islamic law], nor acknowledge the religion of Truth [i.e. Islam], from the people of the book [i.e. Jews and Christians], until they pay tribute with willing submission, and feel themselves utterly subdued (K 9:29).

There is a universalist strand of Judaism that manifested itself in the prophetic writings and ultimately gave rise to Christianity. However, the claim to be a "light unto the nations," while arguably chauvinistic, is hardly a line the Romans would have taken. Even if Zionism is conceived of as an imperialist project, it is imperialism with limited designs: the land between the Sinai and the Jordan river. Universalist imperialism is heretical to Judaism, no matter if Lenin had a Jewish grandparent. Muslim theologian Ibn Khaldun states the difference between Judaism and Islam on the matter:
In the Muslim community, the holy war [jihad] is a religious duty, because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and the obligation to convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force ... The other religious groups did not have a universal mission, and the holy war was not a religious duty for them, save only for purposes of defense ... They are merely required to establish their religion among their own people. That is why the Israelites after Moses and Joshua remained unconcerned with royal authority [e.g., a caliphate]. Their only concern was to establish their religion [not spread it to the nations] … But Islam is under obligation to gain power over other nations.

Debates over theology would be of limited interest if it weren't for logistics. Logistically, Jews never had the numbers to "conquer" Europe outside of the world of arts and letters. Anti-Semites who argued otherwise relied on the bizarrely masochistic assumption that Europeans were Africans in a sort of invisible Apartheid run by Jews. Muslims may not be able to dominate European arts and letters, or infect pure Aryan music with their pernicious influence (as Wagner and Henry Ford claimed of the Jews), but there is some plausibility to the claim that they could eventually dominate Europe through immigration, conversion and high birthrates.

Most likely Western Muslims will assimilate to Americanized popular culture like everyone else. Most likely European countries will change their immigration policies before a demographic "tipping point" is reached. Certainly most individual Muslims want the same basic things as everyone else - which is to say they lack the ambition to conquer, despite video exhortations from Pakistani caves. Nevertheless, theo-political and logistical differences should prevent us from equating post-war European "Islamophobia" to pre-war European anti-Semitism. The banning of headscarves in schools is not equivalent to a pogrom. The publication of Danish cartoons is not equivalent to the publication of Der Strummer. And unlike pre-war European Jews, Muslims have plenty of countries to make their home.
